Project Overview

A renewed home, shaped around family life.

A renewed home, shaped around family life.

This project was completed while working at another architectural practice. Following significant fire damage, it became an opportunity to look beyond replacement and reconsider how the home could best support the family’s everyday life. The proposal carefully retains the character and form of the existing property while introducing a thoughtfully integrated extension and a more coherent internal arrangement. Together, rebuilding, renovation and extension create a practical, comfortable home with a stronger relationship to the garden and surrounding landscape.

Rebuilding for the future, with care for the home’s original character.

From Existing Home to Renewed Living Environment

From Existing Home to Renewed Living Environment

The design process began by understanding the existing building and the practical needs of the family. Rebuilding work was combined with a carefully integrated extension and internal reorganisation, improving usable space while strengthening the connection to the garden and wider landscape.

Developing the Design

Site plans, ground and first floor plans, sections and elevations allowed the proposal to be developed as one coherent architectural solution, from the existing home through to a detailed design for renewal.

A considered foundation for the family’s future.

A considered foundation for the family’s future.

Architecture can sometimes begin with a blank slate, but rebuilding a home carries a different responsibility. This project focused on creating something renewed while recognising the importance of the home and creating a stronger environment for the family’s future.
